Effective web site optimization for increased results

What is SEO?

It seems that everyone has their own definition, but at High Recall, we define SEO like this: 

  1. Increasing the sites visibility to search engines

You have a great opportunity 

As a website owner, you have a fantastic opportunity that has never come with traditional forms of media.  By implementing a few changes into your website, your rankings will increase, your traffic will increase, and your conversions will increase.

You probably already know how to define rankings and traffic, but do you know what a conversion is?  If you have not defined a conversion for your website, that will be your very first step.

A conversion is any action that you want your site visitor to take

SEO can be simplified into three areas

 Step 1:  Increase Search Engine Rankings

Search engine rankings are increased by providing relevant content that can easily be indexed by the search engines.  Relevancy is determined by the actual content as well as it’s link popularity.  Multiple steps are taken to make the content highly visible.

Domain name Selection

You may think that all of the good domain names are already taken, but think again.  Selecting the perfect domain name will depend upon your goals and intended usage.

If you will promote your site with TV, radio, newspaper, etc; then choosing a memorable domain name is important.

If you will rely upon search engine or pay-per click traffic, then a descriptive domain name with keywords in the domain name would be the most beneficial.

Just like naming a brick and mortar business, properly naming your website can give an instant advantage or disadvantage. 

 Keyword Research

It all starts by knowing what your potential customers enter into the search boxes.  We will help you to determine the appropriate key phrases to target based upon several factors.  Targeting the most searched terms is not always the best strategy.

Real Example:  With detailed analytics we noticed that several users had come to one of our sites using the phrase “Geico Insurance Quotes”.  Although the site was not intentionally optimized for this phrase, we did have a short paragraph containing those words.  With this new info, we quickly added an entire article using that key phrase in the title and as the subject.

Step 3:  Increasing Conversions

 As mentioned above, your site must have a specific focus or purpose.  When you have a visitor that takes a desired action, then you have achieved a conversion.

 Unfortunately, too many websites have traffic but absolutely zero conversions.  If you want your site to be an effective business tool, it must somehow convert visitors into customers.
